Aborigines and Small-Nation Existence Protection Project

Aborigines mean the community living from very ancient. Like many other countries of the world, in Bangladesh aborigines are living. But most of the peoples do not accept their presence. Even state doesn’t give them support as aborigines. Nobody calculate how many aborigines are living in the country. In Jessore town, south-west border area of Bangladesh harijon (saint/barber), sweeper, hog-keeper, master, ascetic are living. Over the district near about thirty thousand aborigines are living and most of them are living in Jessore Paurosava, Monirumpur, Keshobpur, Chaugasa, Jhikorgasaand Sarsha areas. Due to the expedition and pressure of civilize community, they migrate and take shelter in inaccessible place, disconnected from general communication. They are backward class; they are living in the common properties of government as their inherent properties are few but in any time their living place may eradicate. It is our ethical responsibility to take care of them, improve their livelihoods, and in generally establish them as the oldest nation and it should be important to civilize them as human. Ulashi Sreejony Sangha (USS) works with disregarded peoples, in this way a program was running for a long time to become close to aborigines.

    Education Program:

USS has been implementing Education Program in ward No. 1 & 2 of Jessore Pourashava since 2001. It is one of the most important working slum zone of USS's working areas. There are 1914 families living in these two wards. Among the existing families, 33% are day laborer. Parents (father and mother) of the most of the families spent their day time in working place. As the both of the key persons of the family stay at working places, the children of those families can not reach the school for basic education.

For the problems mentioned above a remarkable number of children are deprived from enrolling in the schools. To ensure the education facilities to that kind of children, USS starts Community Resource Centers (CRC) to provide education through the participation of local community/civil society.
